Statement From Chairman Josh McKoon

In a proactive effort to support the recovery process, our legal counsel initiated communication with the Receiver, who is diligently working to sort through the records related to First Liberty's collapse. The Receiver’s initiative aims to recover assets and restore the losses suffered by hundreds of investors.

Today, just 10 calendar days after the Receiver’s appointment, the Georgia Republican Party has completed its diligent review of its records dating to 2021, communicated collaboratively with the Receiver to determine the maximum amount of contributions to be returned, and has delivered a payment of $36,843.97 to Receiver Gregory Hays, representing all contributions received from Brant Frost IV and his immediate family members from January 1, 2021, to the present.

Through this proactive cooperation with the Receiver, the Georgia Republican Party has taken a significant step in addressing the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the collapse of First Liberty.

While we were under no legal obligation to take this action, we voluntarily complied with the Receiver's suggestion regarding the timeframe and scope of the donations. This decision reflects our commitment to doing what is right for the victims of this unfortunate situation.

On behalf of our Party, I am profoundly saddened that members of our conservative movement, along with many others, were misled by false promises of safe investments. This has left countless Georgians facing uncertain futures and financial distress.

I want to emphasize that the Party’s action is rooted in compassion and integrity, aimed at supporting the victims and their families. It has not been made at the demand of any level of government or any candidate for office, but rather is the discharge of our moral duty to do our part to assist those who have been affected by this tragedy.

The Georgia Republican Party remains dedicated to ensuring that the interests of our constituents are prioritized, and we will continue to vigorously advocate for those who have suffered as a result of these events.

           Dear Fellow Republicans,

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed Republican elected officials especially: Rep. Tim Fleming, Rep. Victor Anderson, Sen. Sam Watson, Sen. Max Burns, Sen. Rick Williams, and Senate Majority Leader Steve Gooch. Special thanks also goes to Speaker Pro Tem Jan Jones and Speaker Jon Burns. I also want to praise Lt. Governor Burt Jones for his leadership this session on election integrity. Their unwavering support and dedication have been instrumental in advancing House Bill 397 through the legislative process.

I also want to acknowledge the exceptional leadership of Brad Carver and the hard work of the Election Confidence Task Force. Your commitment to ensuring the integrity of our electoral process is commendable and vital to maintaining public trust in our elections.

As we stand on the brink of passage for this critical election integrity legislation, it's important to highlight the key provisions of HB 397. This bill will facilitate our withdrawal from the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), moving the State Election Board to the State Accounting Office for better oversight. It empowers the SEB to make rules year-round while ensuring that these rules take effect with ample time before elections—addressing concerns for third-party candidates and enhancing overall electoral fairness.

Moreover, HB 397 includes vital measures to prevent the illegal opening of election offices and establishes stringent surveillance for drop boxes, ensuring the security of our voting processes. It also allows cities the option to opt out of Saturday voting, further tailoring our electoral system to meet the needs of our communities.

Together, we have made significant strides and I urge all of our great Republican legislators to support the final passage of HB 397. This legislation represents a crucial step toward reinforcing the integrity of our elections and safeguarding the democratic process in Georgia. Thank you for your commitment to this important cause.

Disgraced Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ attempt to duck a lawful subpoena from the Georgia State Senate has been denied

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ attempt to duck a lawful subpoena from the Georgia State Senate has been denied by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shukura Ingram. Willis’ argument was a Hail Mary of a legal theory that her subpoena was invalid because the Senate Special Committee on Investigations was formed in the previous cycle of the Georgia General Assembly. In her decision, Judge Ingram noted the absurdity of the argument, speaking hypothetically “if every time a subpoena is issued by a Special Committee, a recipient can simply litigate its validity and enforcement until the General Assembly reconstitutes and then they have to start over, this would be an absurd result indeed.” The Georgia Republican Party has been steadfast in its support of the creation and perpetuation of this Georgia State Senate Committee. This legal victory is just one more step in compelling Willis’ appearance before the bipartisan committee to answer key questions about the true nature of her RICO case against President Trump and our Republican electors. Georgians MUST get answers regarding the relationship her office had with the Biden Administration, the sham House January 6 Committee, the media, and anyone else who conspired to deny voters of their Civil Rights by seeking to imprison political opponents, drain Republican finances, and intimidate regular people from involving themselves in grassroots politics. Additionally, Georgians deserve answers regarding possible perjury by officers of the court during the disqualification hearings last year. To paraphrase Willis herself in 2021, this investigation should go wherever the facts lead and those responsible must be held accountable!

HB 12 clears first hurdle toward full passage

The work of the Georgia Republican Party Election Confidence Task Force is beginning to bear fruit! We want to congratulate Rep. Martin Momtahan and the House Governmental Affairs Committee for passage of HB 215 (Voter List Integrity Act).

HB 215 removes Georgia from the ERIC (Electronic Registration Information Center) system. It prohibits the Secretary of State from sharing sensitive private voter information with third party groups that share voter data outside of the explicit purpose of removing deceased, duplicate, or otherwise ineligible voters from the voter rolls.

Georgia taxpayers have been spending nearly $100,000 annually only to have bloated voter rolls. This bill will allow counties to conduct thorough voter list maintenance without compromising the privacy of Georgia’s citizens.

Ten states that used to be members of ERIC have quit the organization, citing the partisanship and data privacy concerns. In fact, every state around Georgia has quit ERIC and South Carolina has legislation to do the same.

It originally passed the House of Representatives with 264-159 vote earlier this month, which included 48 Democrats. On Monday the United States Senate also passed it with a bi-partisan 64-35 vote. Twelve Democrat Senators voted with Republicans to pass the measure.

The bill went back to the House of Representatives to be finalized today. It passed with a vote of 263-156.

This law will make it easier for local and state law enforcement agencies to have criminal illegal aliens deported for crimes committed within their respective jurisdictions. For instance, the criminal who killed UGA student Laken Riley in Athens last year would have been eligible for ICE detainment and deportation after his arrest for shoplifting, which occurred prior to Riley’s murder.

The Georgia Republican Party is pleased to see Senators Ossoff and Warnock obeyed our request and decided to vote in the affirmative.

However, we are disappointed to see Georgia Democrat House Reps. Sanford Bishop, David Scott, Hank Johnson, and Nikema Williams vote against it. Hopefully the Georgia based Capitol Hill reporters will ask these Congressional members why they voted to support safeguards for criminal illegals.

WHEREAS, Geoff Duncan (“Duncan”) ran as a Republican candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives and for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia; and WHEREAS, in qualifying to run as a Republican candidate, Duncan swore an oath of allegiance to the Republican Party as prescribed by O.C.G.A. 21-2-153(b)(4); and WHEREAS, in his campaigns for public office as a Republican candidate, Duncan portrayed himself as a Trump supporting conservative and, during his campaign for the Republican nomination as Lieutenant Governor, falsely implied the endorsement of President Trump; and WHEREAS, Duncan’s claim of having been endorsed by President Trump fits into a larger pattern of false and exaggerated claims, including that he graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology, played major league baseball as a member of the Miami Marlins and was a “successful businessman,” and WHEREAS, Duncan’s single term as Lieutenant Governor was marred by embarrassment and scandal; and WHEREAS, in the final months of his term as Lieutenant Governor, Duncan sought openly to undermine and sabotage the candidacy of Burt Jones, the Republican nominee to succeed him as Lieutenant Governor, and in doing so, gave aid to the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor and violated his oath of allegiance to the Republican Party; and WHEREAS, Duncan undermined and sabotaged the candidacy of Herschel Walker, the Republican nominee for United States Senate, discouraging Republicans from voting for him and, in doing so, gave aid to Democrat Raphael Warnock and violated his oath of allegiance to the Republican Party; and WHEREAS, Duncan comically sought the presidential nomination of the “No Labels” Political Party in opposition to the Republican Party and, in doing so, violated his oath of allegiance to the Republican Party; and WHEREAS, Duncan endorsed Democrat Joe Biden for President of the United States against Donald J. Trump, the Republican nominee for President and, in doing so, violated his oath of allegiance to the Republican Party; and WHEREAS, when Joe Biden was forced out of the race for President because of physical and mental incapacity, Duncan endorsed Democrat Kamala Harris for President of the United States against Donald J. Trump, the Republican nominee for President and, in doing so, violated his oath of allegiance to the Republican Party; and WHEREAS, by his pattern of conduct, Duncan has forfeited any claim to being even a nominal “Republican;” and WHEREAS, Duncan made campaign speeches and appearances for Kamala Harris and the Democratic National Committee under the guise of being a “Republican for Harris,” and WHEREAS, Duncan has obtained paid employment from CNN as a “Republican” commentator, using his false credential as a “Republican” to attack the Republican Party; and WHEREAS, Josh McKoon, Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party, with the support of the State Executive Committee of the Georgia Republican Party, has demanded that Duncan cease calling himself a “Republican” and using his false credential as a “Republican” to undermine and sabotage the Republican Party and its candidates; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the State Executive Committee of the Georgia Republican Party: 1. That the open letter from Josh McKoon, Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party, to Geoff Duncan dated August 2, 2024, is hereby ratified, confirmed, and approved. 2. Judge rules Fulton DA violated Open Records Act, must produce in five days

Tuesday started with an embarrassing loss for Fani Willis in the YSL RICO case, the longest trial in Georgia history. A case where prosecutors from the Fulton County DA were so incompetent that the judge actually made them watch a “how to” video for trial lawyers.

As if this wasn’t humiliating enough, it got much worse for her Willis and her office.

On Tuesday afternoon, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ruled in favor of Judicial Watch in their months long quest to gain access to any and all official communications Willis’ office had with members of the Biden Administration and/or members of the House January 6th Committee.

In a ruling that almost seems impossible to believe, McBurney ruled in favor of Judicial Watch by DEFAULT, because Willis and her office didn’t even bother showing up!

McBurney not only ruled that Willis violated the Open Records Act but sided with Judicial Watch “as if every item and paragraph of the complaint were supported by proper and sufficient evidence.”

This includes… a public acknowledgement to stonewalling the public for these public records, payment of all attorney fees to Judicial Watch (more taxpayer waste), and most importantly, it gives Willis FIVE BUSINESS DAYS to produce any and all documents related to the original open records request.

This sort of behavior is appalling and inexplicable.

It makes one wonder if there is more than just incompetence. What are they hiding?

In Case You Missed It: Raphael Warnock is Distancing Himself from Joe Biden

Earlier this week, Raphael Warnock endorsed a Trump-era immigration policy – Title 42 – to the chagrin of many on the Left.

Last year, though, Warnock signed a letter demanding that the Biden administration eliminate Title 42.

“When they finally arrived at Del Rio, Texas, many Haitians…were summarily expelled and deported without best interest determinations for children or screenings for international protection concerns,” Warnock and Democrats wrote in a letter to Joe Biden.

Now, Warnock is calling on the Biden administration to not only keep Title 42 but to come up with an additional “plan” to keep our border secure.

If you’re confused by his stance, you’re in good company.

“Raphael Warnock must have seen Joe Biden’s approval numbers and is trying to distance himself from Democrats’ radical plans to open our border. Georgians will not believe Warnock’s hypocritical policy flip-flopping.”
