David Shafer Honored as Chairman Emeritus by Unanimous Convention Vote

A RESOLUTION HONORING CHAIRMAN DAVID SHAFER FOR HIS LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE TO THE GEORGIA REPUBLICAN PARTY

WHEREAS, for more 30 years David Shafer has served Georgia Republicans, first as Executive Director of the Georgia Republican Party, then as a campaign leader for multiple Republican candidates, then as a Republican elected official and Republican legislative caucus leader, and finally as our State Chairman; and




WHEREAS, as a member and then President Pro Tempore of the State Senate of Georgia, David Shafer was a champion of conservative principles and a stalwart supporter of the Republican Party and Republican candidates; and 




WHEREAS, as our volunteer State Chairman Shafer, David Shafer rescued the Georgia Republican Party from a half-decade of borderline insolvency by imposing fiscal discipline, retiring debt and setting fundraising records; and




WHEREAS, Chairman Shafer led the way in adoption of the first ever platform of the modern Georgia Republican Party, articulating in plain language our values and principles; and




WHEREAS, Chairman Shafer oversaw the activation, organization, and mobilization of grassroots volunteers to set records in voter contact on behalf of Republican candidates in Georgia; and




WHEREAS, Chairman Shafer worked hard to protect the integrity of our elections, appropriately, lawfully and courageously insisting that electoral safeguards be preserved and processes respected; and




WHEREAS, Chairman Shafer has stood strong in the face of unfounded, outrageous and politically motivated legal attacks;




NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Georgia Republican Party, acting by and through its State Convention, does hereby applaud Chairman David Shafer for his outstanding leadership and lifetime of service, award him the honorary title of “Chairman Emeritus” of the Georgia Republican Party, and express our continuing and unwavering support for him.

In case you missed it, Stacey Abrams’ dark money group, Fair Fight Action, reportedly called an admitted insurrectionist and election denier to the stand in their fight against Georgia’s voter integrity law. Adrienne Jones, a 22-year political science professor, admitted under oath that she wrote stories calling for black women to “overthrow” President Donald Trump, and claimed that Republicans wanted to create “internment camps” for Americans. “Stacey Abrams’ dark money group miscalculated by calling an admitted insurrectionist to the stand in their fight against Georgia’s voter integrity law.
