Just two years removed from proudly ‘working hand-in-hand with President Obama,’ Democratic Rep. John Barrow is now doing his best disappearing act, announcing on Tuesday that he will be skipping the 2012 Democratic National Convention altogether. Though this is hardly John Barrow’s first attempt to straddle the fence, it is quite telling as yet another endangered Democrat slowly backs away from President Obama.

In 2010, Rep. Barrow was eager to be “working hand in hand with President Obama to create jobs and turn the economy around.” Unfortunately, their teamwork hasn’t quite achieved the accomplishments that they worked together towards. As unemployment remains stagnantly above 8%, our national debt approaches $16T and consumer confidence falls for the fourth consecutive month, John is having a tough time backing away from the Barrow-Obama record.

Today, we see Barrow flip-flopping and rapidly distancing himself from Barack Obama as much as possible, all in a thinly-veiled effort to keep his political career alive. As John Barrow will find out in November, the voters in Georgia’s 12^th Congressional District are all-too-familiar with his doublespeak and political gamesmanship.

John “No-Show” Barrow may avoid a photo-op with President Obama in Charlotte, but one certainty remains: John Barrow and Barack Obama are one and the same.
