Letter from GTCR Chairman Ellie Smith

Fellow Republicans,

This is the first time that I am formally introducing myself to many of you.  My name is Ellie Smith, I am a third year HTS major and Public Policy minor here at Georgia Tech, I am from Marietta and I am very proud to be this year’s Chairman of the Georgia Tech chapter of the College Republicans.

This is an exciting year for the conservative movement and the Republican party and I, along with the rest of the exec board, am very excited about the role that GTCRs can have in taking down Obama this fall.  We want to start the year of with a lot of new members and Vice Chair Andrew Mullins has been working tirelessly to organize our FASET efforts.  If you are interested in getting involved please contact him at vicechair@gtrepublicans.com or Executive Director Emily Jones at execdir@gtrepublicans.com In addition to our FASET efforts we are working on a great kick-off meeting that will hopefully feature a wide array of Republican leaders from throughout the state as we focus on the jobs crisis for graduating college students and how detrimental another four years of Obama could potentially be.

As some of you may know, the GTCR website has been revamped!  Check us out at www.gtrepublicans.com and if you are interested in writing an article for us, please contact Andrew and he will assist you in taking advantage of your 1st amendment rights!  You can also “Like” us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter (@gtcrs).

If you have been reading this email carefully, you would have noticed by now that I have not offered myself as a contact for questions, volunteering etc.  This is because starting in July, I will be living in Geneva Switzerland for five months while completing an internship with the World Economic Forum.  I will still be accessible via email, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and whatever social media platform you can think of, but since I will be absent from the country, I have decided to place Vice Chairman Andrew Mullins in charge of operations while I am away.  Andrew is on-fire for the conservative movement and I have no doubt that he will do a great job in my absence.  This being said, please support him and treat him as you would treat me.  Now is the time to be focused on the end-game, electing Mitt Romney and ousting Barack Obama, and not become consumed by legalism and titles.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns (or any tips on Geneva!) and I will respond as soon as I can.  Also, please be on the lookout for more information about FASET volunteering from Andrew this week.

Go Jackets!

Ellie Smith
