Lee Anderson: “This is our Opportunity”

Never before have we been given an opportunity like this one.  After redistricting, in which Georgia’s 12th Congressional District was redrawn to favor Republicans, the race to unseat Democrat John Barrow was propelled to the national spotlight.  As one of the last Blue Dog Democrats from the South, Barrow became a target of the National Republican Congressional Committee and the 12th District was placed on the shortlist for districts most likely to change parties.  The Republican Party, which currently holds eight Congressional seats in Georgia, could gain two representatives this November.

Yet, professional politician John Barrow is fighting harder than ever to keep his seat.  He recently reported having $1.19 million in the bank, and he’s using that money to launch nasty attack ads aimed at deceiving voters.  While Barrow attempts to paint himself as an independent, he bragged in a private fundraising letter that he “supported the President and the Democratic leadership 85% of the time.”  He touted his support of the President’s stimulus, his refusal to repeal Obamacare, and his vote to continue using taxpayer money in order to fund Planned Parenthood.

But make no mistake.  I’m not a flip-flopper or a slick talking politician, and I don’t have a Harvard law degree.  But I am willing to take what I do have to Washington – a proven record of fiscal responsibility.  As a farmer, school board member, county commissioner, and state representative, I have balanced budgets.  I know that you can’t spend more money than you take in, and it’s not always easy.  In fact, it rarely is.  In the General Assembly, we sacrificed and made tough decisions in order to balance the budget, but it was worth it.  Considering that the State of Georgia has a better credit rating than the U.S. government, Washington would do well to learn some good old-fashion, Georgia common sense.  When elected to Congress, I will help the Republican Party maintain control in the U.S. House of Representatives and will work with Mitt Romney to cut reckless spending and finally balance the budget.

But we need your help.  In these final days, vandals targeted hundreds of Romney/Anderson signs in the district, and Barrow continues to fill the airwaves with his liberal distortions.  For those of you who live in the 12th Congressional District, please encourage your friends and family to vote for Mitt Romney and Lee Anderson on November 6th.  Stop by our campaign office – at 4313 Washington Road in Evans – or your local GOP headquarters to make calls in efforts to get out the vote.  And no matter where you live, visit www.VoteLeeAnderson.com and consider making a valuable contribution.  Remember, this is our opportunity.  With your help, we can boot the community organizer and that slick-talking lawyer friend of his and put commonsense, Republican candidates in their place.  Together, we can help get America growing again.
