From The Chairman’s Desk
In the nearly two months that have passed since the terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, much has been uncovered about the events of that fateful night and the actions – or lack thereof – of the Obama Administration. What matters now, however, is that four American lives were taken in cold blood, including that of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens. The families of those who gave their lives, as well as the American people, deserve answers. In the hours that followed after the attacks began, it has been revealed that CIA operatives were denied in their requests for military back-up at least three times, told instead to “stand down” while Americans were fighting for their lives. Despite of these orders, former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods and at least two others put country before self and rushed to the aide of their colleagues. Heartbreakingly, Tyrone lost his life fighting to protect fellow Americans. In my eyes, he is a true American hero. LAST CHANCE: Romney/Ryan Bumper Stickers! Lee Anderson: “This is our Opportunity”
Never before have we been given an opportunity like this one. After redistricting, in which Georgia’s 12th Congressional District was redrawn to favor Republicans, the race to unseat Democrat John Barrow was propelled to the national spotlight. As one of the last Blue Dog Democrats from the South, Barrow became a target of the National Republican Congressional Committee and the 12th District was placed on the shortlist for districts most likely to change parties. The Republican Party, which currently holds eight Congressional seats in Georgia, could gain two representatives this November. Yet, professional politician John Barrow is fighting harder than ever to keep his seat. He recently reported having $1.19 million in the bank, and he’s using that money to launch nasty attack ads aimed at deceiving voters. While Barrow attempts to paint himself as an independent, he bragged in a private fundraising letter that he “supported the President and the Democratic leadership 85% of the time.” He touted his support of the President’s stimulus, his refusal to repeal Obamacare, and his vote to continue using taxpayer money in order to fund Planned Parenthood. But make no mistake. I’m not a flip-flopper or a slick talking politician, and I don’t have a Harvard law degree. But I am willing to take what I do have to Washington – a proven record of fiscal responsibility… Republican Election Night Party
Savannah Morning News: Romney for President This week, The Savannah Morning News endorsed Republican Mitt Romney for President of the United States. Read the endorsement below: Voters in the Savannah area and elsewhere will soon decide whether President Obama or Mitt Romney will lead this nation for the next four years. It’s a hugely important decision, with the most critical question being jobs: Which man is better able to put America back to work? In our view, it’s time to fire Mr. Obama and hire Mr. Romney. We endorse him for president of the United States. The struggling economy is by far the No. 1 issue facing Americans today, tomorrow and probably the next few years. The executive in the White House, Republican or Democrat, must have a plan that will encourage employers to invest in expansion, then have the skills to steer it through a Congress that could remain politically divided. Frankly, Mr. Obama has had four years to get this job done. That includes two years with a Democratic-controlled House and Senate. Yet, he has little to show for it. Frankly, he hasn’t earned a second term. Click here to continue reading this Endorsement in the Savannah Morning News. 2012 GAGOP Golf Tournament On Monday, the 2012 Georgia Republican Foundation Golf Tournament was held at Hawks Ridge in beautiful Ball Ground, GA! After finishing 18 holes on the course, including contests for “closest to the pin,” “longest drive” and “hole-in-one,” guests were treated to a luncheon and election update from Chairman Sue P. Everhart. We look forward to seeing you next year at the 4th Annual GAGOP Golf Tournament!

COL Mrozinski: 10-Point Plan to Restore Confidence in U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs The 2012 Presidential election year has clearly highlighted the indifference and neglect of the Obama Administration towards our nation’s active duty, veterans and their families. This administration has sent mixed signals not only to the military and the veterans, but to The Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) personnel trying to determine what the priorities are. Our Federal employees can no longer work under very difficult conditions of financial mismanagement and lack of oversight that has constricted responsiveness to our nation’s veterans. The 2012 Republican Party Platform provides us with a positive azimuth and a blue print for addressing or nations challenges (http://www.gop.com/2012-republican-platform_home/) while fulfilling our national promise of support to those who volunteered and sacrificed their dreams and hopes to serve America. In contrast, the Obama Administration has offered eleventh hour campaign rhetoric in addressing VA efficiencies for what they have known to be deficient for nearly four years. Let’s take a look at some of the key burgeoning issues and solutions encompassed in the following 10-point plan. By address the current VA challenges with the goal of reducing the staggering claims backlog, we will begin working together to restore faith and responsiveness in our veteran system… Congressman Rob Woodall Joins Gwinnett GOP Trolley Tour

In the Headlines: Bishop, House offer differing approaches to grow jobs Sanford Bishop and John House agree that jobs are the top priority in the 2nd Congressional District and that government’s role is to create a climate for job growth. But their ways of getting there are very different… House, a retired U.S. Army colonel and political novice, argues that Bishop’s approach has been unsuccessful. The Republican candidate calls instead for cutting federal regulations and corporate taxes. “I would say (Bishop) owns whatever has happened in Washington, D.C.,” House said. “He’s either voted for what’s occurred or he’s been powerless to stop it, if he’s been against it…” House is a native and current resident of Columbus, as is his wife, Marilyn. According to the Wall Street Journal he holds a master’s degree in business administration from Auburn University, in history from the University of Kansas, from the U.S. Command and General Staff College, and from the U.S. Naval War College; and a doctorate in business administration from Northcentral University. A 26-year Army veteran, he held a number of staff commands for training and operations, serving in Germany, Korea and Operation Desert Storm. Since his 2001 retirement he has been a military-industry consultant and college instructor. Click here to read more from the Macon Telegraph. Georgia Early Voting Ends Friday! Send your events and photos to Chris Kelleher at Chris@gagop.org, and keep an eye out for your organization to be featured in a future GAGOP Newsletter! Help Lead the Charge Today! The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago! |
