Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – May 30, 2012

Chairman Sue Everhart

Dear Friends,

Last week, the Georgia Republican Party had an action-packed week at the State Capitol. Spending Wednesday-Friday in the House Chamber, we conducted Republican Candidate Qualifying for all federal, statewide, state legislative and district attorney incumbents, challengers and candidates for the 2012 Election Cycle.

When all was said and done, the Georgia Republican Party Qualified 305 candidates that will appear on the July 31st Primary Ballot for voters all across the great State of Georgia! Among the candidates were 28 Republicans running for U.S. Congress, 4 Republicans running for the Public Service Commission, 37 Republicans running for District Attorney, 59 Republicans running for State Senate and 177 Republicans running for State House of Representatives. For those of you keeping score at home, the Georgia Republican Party Qualified more candidates than the Democratic Party of Georgia for every single office on the ballot.

Poll of the Week: Romney Leads Obama by 24% Among Veterans

On Memorial Day, Gallup released the results of their latest poll – weighing the favorability of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney with American Veterans – and the results were striking. Among Veterans, 58% prefer Mitt Romney in the General Election, while just 34% favor Barack Obama. Though Veterans consist of just 13% of the American population, the significance of a 24% favorability edge possessed by Mitt Romney should not be overlooked.

Veterans in the U.S. today are mostly male and two-thirds are aged 50 or older. In a population that is currently evenly split in its preferences for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney for president, veterans stand out for their 24-point preference for Romney. About a fourth of men are veterans, and it is their strong skew toward Romney that essentially creates the GOP candidate’s leading position among men today. Among nonveteran men, Obama and Romney are essentially tied,” says Gallup.

To view the poll in its entirety, visit: http://www.gallup.com/poll/154904/Veterans-Give-Romney-Big-Lead-Obama.aspx.

Help Lead the Charge Today!

The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
