Did You Know?

The symbol of the Republican Party is the elephant. During the mid term elections in 1874, Democrats tried to scare voters into thinking President Ulysses S. Grant would seek to run for an unprecedented third term. Thomas Nast, a cartoonist for Harper’s Weekly, depicted a Democratic donkey trying to scare a Republican elephant – and both symbols stuck.

Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – May 2, 2012

Chairman Sue Everhart

Dear Friends,

This week, the Georgia Republican Party was excited to announce that we have teamed up with the Republican National Committee to launch the ‘Social Victory Center!’ Combining the technologies of both Facebook and Eventbrite, the Social Victory Center will allow the utmost integration of social media and digital event planning to provide an unparalleled grassroots action center.

With more American voters than even currently using sites like Facebook, Twitter and many others, the reach of digital political activism has never been more substantial. The 2012 elections will be decided not just through traditional means any longer, but also through digital Get Out the Vote efforts, social media-based ‘Meetups’ and the unbridled reach and amplification of the social media-driven message.

Letter from GACR Chairman Jamie Jordan

GACR

Fellow Republicans,

My name is Jamie Jordan, and this past Saturday I was elected as the new Chairman of the Georgia Association of College Republicans. Prior to being elected, I served as the Chairman of the University of Georgia College Republicans for a year and a half. I am a resident of Spalding County, and currently serve as the 2nd Vice Chairman of the Spalding County Republican Party and a State Committee Member of the Georgia Republican Party.

As the new GACR State Chairman, I am excited about the coming year. We have already begun work to prepare for this November so that we can help ensure the largest possible victory for the Republican Party. We are recruiting new members and trying to fundraise to our fullest potential so that we can provide an army of volunteers to canvas the state and help elect and re-elect members of Congress and evict the current resident of the White House!

2012 Georgia Young Republicans State Convention

Each year, the Georgia Young Republicans host our annual State Convention. This year, we are excited to head to beautiful Columbus, Georgia. You are invited to join your fellow Young Republicans from all across Georgia for a weekend of politics, networking, friendship building, and some good old Southern fun. This is your opportunity to meet your elected officials, network with many of the prominent business leaders in Georgia, build connections with your fellow YRs, and have a great time doing it all.

Each YR club will be allotted Delegates based on the size of their membership. In order to become a Delegate to the YR Convention all you need to do is notify your local club Chairman that you want to serve as a Delegate. From there, your Chairman will select those to represent your club in at the State Convention where you will have the opportunity to elect your statewide officers for the coming year.

If you want to participate, or if you need further information about the convention, please contact Chairman Cameron Fash at chairman@georgiayr.com.

Support Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker

With just over a month left before the recall election in Wisconsin, Governor Walker’s campaign has kicked itself into high gear.

In recent weeks, the Friends of Scott Walker Campaign has been working overtime to reach each and every voter in Wisconsin and let them know about the positive benefits that Governor Walker’s reforms have given their state. If you would like to be a part of this historic election, please set up an account at myscottspot.org, you can help the cause by taking part in their call from home program.

The volunteers in Wisconsin have been hard at work, highlighted by April’s Super Saturday event where ardent supporters of the Governor made over 188,000 contacts to voters statewide. Since the beginning of the year they have made more than 1.5 million contacts and are using the Governor’s positive common sense conservative message to keep the electorate informed.

But, with just over a month left until the most important election in Wisconsin’s history they need your help to reach every voter in the state.

In Memoriam

Last week, the Georgia Republican Party lost a dear friend, colleague and patriot – Mrs. Pam Hill of Cobb County. Help Lead the Charge Today!

The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
