Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – June 27, 2012

Chairman Sue Everhart

Dear Friends,

One vote can make a big difference.

In our American Democracy, millions of votes are cast each and every day for a wide variety of legislation, referendums, local government and elected officials. Each vote, regardless of how consequential or trivial it may feel, has an undeniable and lasting effect on our Nation.

In fact, tomorrow the U.S. Supreme Court will decide the fate of ObamaCare, and it is highly possible that it will come down to just one vote – one vote that will decide one of the largest and most highly-anticipated Supreme Court decisions of our lifetimes. When put into perspective, it is hard not to see the overwhelming importance that a single vote can carry.

Letter from Congressman Jack Kingston

Dear Friends,

While popular opinion has already coalesced against the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, the final answer may very well come next week.

After an unprecedented three days of oral arguments the nation’s highest court is set to release its decision on the law’s constitutionality as early as Monday, though many Supreme Court experts believe the ruling will actually come out on Wednesday or Thursday.

During oral arguments, debate focused on four questions.

First is whether the court can even rule on the law at this time due to a 19th Century law which states that a person must pay a tax before bringing a case to have it blocked. To those who know the court best, it appears that this argument was rejected…

Judge Keith Blackwell Named to Georgia Supreme Court

On Monday, Georgia’s Governor Nathan Deal announced that the Honorable Keith R. Blackwell was appointed to the Georgia Supreme Court, effective on July 19th. Originally appointed to the Georgia Court of Appeals by Governor Sonny Perdue in 2010, Judge Blackwell has been a reliable, steady voice for justice and this honor is extremely well deserved!

“The Supreme Court will benefit from Judge Blackwell’s experience on both sides of the bench,” said Governor Nathan Deal. “His intelligence, many years of experience and dedicated commitment to public service will serve Georgians well in his new role on our state’s highest court.”

From all of us at the Georgia Republican Party – Congratulations, Justice Blackwell!

GAGOP Chairman Everhart Statement on Barack Obama’s Fundraising Stop in Atlanta

ATLANTA – On Tuesday, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Sue P. Everhart released the following statement regarding President Obama’s latest fundraising stop in Georgia, which took place in Downtown Atlanta:

“Barack Obama’s latest fundraising jaunt through Atlanta shows yet again just how out of touch he is with the people of Georgia. Instead of focusing on his role as President of the United States of America, the Campaigner-in-Chief has opted time after time to rub elbows with Hollywood celebrities and deep-pocketed donors. Throughout Georgia and across the nation, the fact remains that Barack Obama has simply failed to lead.

“In the face of crippling national debt, a stagnant jobs market and mounting economic anxiety, Barack Obama continues to run from his less-than-stellar presidential record. After nearly four years of broken promises and empty rhetoric, the American people are more eager than ever before to return true leadership to the White House.”

CRNC: 5 Devastating Effects of ObamaCare on Young People

This week, College Republican National Committee continued to focus on what four more years of Obama and ObamaCare would mean to America’s youth, and the results were less-than-stellar for the president.

Among the many burdens of ObamaCare, the president has removed funds from education, taken control of the student loan system and put America’s college graduates under nearly-insurmountable levels of debt. Our college graduates deserve to enter the workforce with ample opportunity and hope for the future, and that has been fundamentally jeopardized by Barack Obama’s tax-and-spend policies.

Simply put, we cannot afford four more years of Barack Obama.

Help Lead the Charge Today!

The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
