Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – June 20, 2012

Chairman Sue Everhart

Dear Friends,

In 2007, then-Senator Barack Obama appeared on CNN and stated that Executive Privilege was not a legitimate reason to withhold information from Congress. Said Obama: “There is a tendency…to hide behind Executive Privilege. The Administration would be best served by coming clean.”

My, how the times change.

This morning, despite promises to be “the most transparent Administration in American history,” President Obama invoked Executive Privilege to shield Attorney General Eric Holder from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s investigation into the now-infamous Operation Fast and Furious. A blatantly political move in the 11th hour of the Oversight Committee’s preparation of contempt charges against the Attorney General for failure to comply with Congressional records requests, President Obama has raised the stakes – so to speak – and the questions over the involvement of not only the Justice Department, but also the White House, in Operation Fast and Furious now loom large.

Letter from Congressman Phil Gingrey

GTCR

Fellow Republicans,

According to a new report, more than 7 in 10 American teenagers are unable to find summer employment. To put that number in perspective, youth unemployment levels haven’t been this high since the 1940’s.

Summer jobs provide more than a paycheck. They instill a sense of pride, build character and work ethic, allow students to explore different career paths, and help them save money for college. Perhaps, most importantly, summer jobs allow students to experience the dignity of going to work.

Like many of you, I had summer jobs as a youngster, working for my parents at their motel and working as a co-op at the Savannah River Project nuclear reactor facility. These experiences ingrained a strong work ethic in me. I also learned to appreciate the value of a dollar—lessons that continue to serve me well to this day.

Ms. Thompson taught in Georgia public schools for 24 years (secondary Business Education/work-based learning), a community college, two Georgia technical colleges, and three Georgia universities for over 40 years to improve education at every level.

Campaign 101: Cobb Republican Women Gear Up for Victory

On Saturday, June 16 from 9:00 am to noon, the Cobb County Republican Women held a Campaign 101 School at the Cobb County GOP Headquarters. The main purpose of the Campaign 101 School was to bring experts together to discuss many key elements that will help to elect Mitt Romney and bring success to the Republican Party in upcoming as well as future elections. Topics that were specifically targeted were The Path to 270 Electoral Votes, Building Coalitions among friends and interested citizens, the importance of Door-to-Door campaigning as well as the steps needed to ensure success, and how to effectively convey your message by identifying your target audience when Phone Banking.

The School also taught its attendees how to lead groups to ensure that volunteers not only feel a sense of purpose, but that their precious time is used to the best advantage. In order to truly understand what it means to be a Republican, the school also taught its attendees about the proud history of the Republican Party to remind those voters who may not be familiar with how much their views align with the party and how to answer important questions such as, “Why are you a Republican.”

Overall, the event was very successful with over 42 people in attendance. Important events like the Campaign 101 School will help the Republican Party to be successful in the upcoming elections both statewide and nationally.

Sue’s Views: Barack Obama’s Poll Numbers Slide – Quickly

On Monday, Rasmussen Reports released their latest series of polling leading up to the November elections, and one thing is clear – Barack Obama and his Democratic colleagues are sinking, and sinking quickly. Among the poll results:

- Mitt Romney currently leads Barack Obama nationally by 4 points, marking the eleventh consecutive day that Romney has polled ahead of Obama.

- President Obama’s Approval Index currently sits at -15, with 53% of Americans disapproving of his job performance.

- 60% of likely voters believe that it is at least somewhat likely that the next President will be a Republican, while just 25% say that the scenario is unlikely.

- On the Generic Congressional Ballot, Republicans lead Democrats 45% – 38%, an extremely significant margin leading up to a pivotal election.

Republican Study Committee: 4.3 Million Jobs Below Average

This week, the Republican Study Committee – The Caucus House of Congressional Conservatives – released a new chart detailing the stagnant Obama “recovery.” Despite claims that the president has brought the American economy into a state of recovery, the facts show that the average job growth rate of the past 10 economic recoveries trump that of the “Obama Recovery” by 4.3 million jobs!

It is ever-more clear with each passing day that Barack Obama has failed to lead our country out of this economic downturn, and has inflicted both short-and long-term damage that will take years – if not longer – to repair.

As the Republican Study Committee says, “We can do better.”

Help Lead the Charge Today!

The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
