Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – July 25, 2012
|
|
Dear Friends,
In 2008, Republicans from across the nation came together at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis to deliberate, compile and ultimately approve the 2008 Republican Platform. This Platform has served as a guiding light for our Party, steering our achievements steadily over the past four years.
Serving as the pillars of the 2008 Republican Platform, the major tenets that our Party decided upon were: Defending Our Nation, Supporting Our Heroes, Securing the Peace; Reforming Government to Serve the People; Expanding Opportunity to Promote Prosperity; Energy Independence and Security; Environmental Protection; Health Care Reform: Putting Patients First; Education Means a More Competitive America; Protecting Our Families; and Preserving Our Values.
Now, with just one month left until we embark on the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa Bay, Florida, it is time for our Party to prepare a Platform that will once-again guide the Republican agenda and propel our Party to new heights!

This election is a battle for the core values of America. Do we want a country of and by Washington…or a nation of and by a free people? For us to continue to live in a free America, we MUST replace Barack Obama.
The GAGOP is the only entity in the state fully committed to electing a Republican President. Help us spread our message to every corner of our state! With a contribution of just…
$5, you can help buy three yard signs.
$25, you can help buy fourteen yard signs.
$100, you can help buy fifty-nine yard signs.
And with a contribution of $1,000, you can help buy enough yard signs so that every Republican in an entire precinct can proudly display their strong Republican support!
Let’s cover Georgia!

2nd Annual Grillin’ with the Governor
|
|
On this past Saturday, July 21st, Governor Nathan Deal hosted his second annual “Grillin’ with the Governor” event. This down home southern family occasion took place at the Olympic Rowing Venue on Lake Lanier. Although weather forecasts called for heavy rains throughout the day, the event was jam-packed with guests, supporters and elected officials alike.
There was a much expected southern atmosphere as patrons were instantly greeted by volunteers, treated to a Bar-B-Que lunch served by First Lady Sandra Deal and we cannot forget the banana pudding that was served too. Supporters were also given the opportunity to “hob-nob” with the Governor, Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle, and numerous elected officials from Northeast Georgia and throughout the state.
Folks that attended the event had the opportunity to hear the Governor speak. Though informal, the event was still worth the drive that some made. As the Governor said, “It’s an opportunity for us to be able to invite people from all over the state of Georgia to come up and have an informal discussion and just say hello to them.”
So go ahead and mark your calendars for next year’s “Grillin’ with the Governor” and invite friends and the whole family!
Please enjoy some of the sights from the 2nd Annual Grillin’ with the Governor:

Elected Official of the Week: Congressman Tom Graves
|
|
U.S. Representative Tom Graves entered Congress in June 2010 after serving seven and half years in the Georgia General Assembly. He represents Georgia’s 9th Congressional District which spans from the northern suburbs of Atlanta to the northwest borders of Alabama and Tennessee.
In Congress, Tom serves on the House Committee on Appropriations, which decides how the United States government spends taxpayer dollars. This assignment puts Tom in the center of the spending cut debate, as he works to root out government inefficiency and waste, and reform Congress into a more disciplined body that focuses on saving, not spending, taxpayer dollars. Within the full Appropriations Committee, Tom serves on three Appropriations Subcommittees: Agriculture; Commerce, Justice and Science; and Financial Services.
In the Georgia General Assembly, Tom authored legislation that was nationally recognized and designed to help small businesses put Georgians back to work through a series of tax credits, cuts, and incentives for small businesses.
Tom and his family live on their farm in Ranger, Georgia. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, Tom spent his early years in White, Georgia and later attended the University of Georgia, where he graduated with a B.B.A in Finance. Tom and his wife Julie have three children and they are active members of Belmont Baptist Church in Calhoun.

Obama’s Missing Jobs Council
|
|

Last week, the Republican National Committee released a new graphic “Missing Jobs Council” wondering where President Obama’s jobs council is. Over the last six months, Barack Obama can’t seem to find the time to meet with his jobs council, but he has managed to find the time to enjoy 10 golf outings and 106 fundraisers. It’s clear what his priorities are.
“The American people are searching for a plan to fix the economy but all President Obama has to offer is class warfare rhetoric, distractions, and a proposed tax hike. It’s clear from today’s report that Obama is so devoid of ideas that he can’t even muster the time to bring his ‘jobs council’ together for a meeting any longer,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

Help Lead the Charge Today!
|
|
The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
