Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – July 11, 2012
|
|
Dear Friends,
Chances are, you have driven behind a car or past a house this year that was proudly displaying their ‘Obama 2012’ bumper sticker, yard sign or other campaign items. In fact, if you are like me, you have probably seen more than just a few.
Now it is our turn! Over the next few months, the Georgia Republican Party will embark on our ‘Sign in Every Yard, Sign on Every Corner’ initiative, which will help to ensure that Republicans have a substantial and noticeable presence throughout the State of Georgia.
The truth is that this election is a battle for the core values of America. Do we want a country of and by Washington, or a nation of and by a free people? For us to continue to live in a free America, we MUST replace Barack Obama, and that begins with each and every one of you.

Elected Official of the Week: Congressman Tom Price
|
|
Congressman Tom Price was first elected to represent Georgia’s 6th district in November 2004. Prior to going to Washington, Price served four terms in the Georgia State Senate – two as Minority Whip. In 2002, he was a leader in the Republican renaissance in Georgia as the party took control of the State Senate, with Price rising to become the first Republican Senate Majority Leader in the history of Georgia.
In Congress, Rep. Price has proven to be a vibrant leader, tireless problem solver and the go-to Republican on quality health care policy. He serves on the House Ways and Means and the Budget Committees. In the 112th Congress, Price was elected by his colleagues to serve as the fifth ranking Republican in the House as the Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee. In the preceding Congress, he served as Chairman of the Republican Study Committee. Committed to advancing positive solutions under principled leadership, Price has been a fierce opponent of government waste and devoted to limited government and lower spending.
For nearly twenty years, Rep. Price worked in private practice as an orthopedic surgeon. Before coming to Washington he returned to Emory University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor and Medical Director of the Orthopedic Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, teaching resident doctors in training. He received his Bachelor and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Michigan and completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Emory University.
Congressman Price and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Roswell, GA. They have one son who is in college.

Georgia Republicans Meet with Constituents & Concerned Citizens
|
|
This week, members of Georgia’s Republican Congressional Delegation took time in between committee meetings and votes on the floor of the House to meet with constituents and concerned citizens, many of whom are gravely concerned about the direction that Barack Obama has taken our country. Georgia’s GOP Congressmen have listened acutely, and are prepared to fight for Georgians in November and beyond!
Keep up the great work, Congressman!

“On the eve of the House’s vote to repeal Obamacare, I was glad to meet with members from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Georgia who told me that the uncertainty of the health care law is hurting businesses across Georgia.” – Austin Scott

“Enjoyed visiting with Carly Hope of Rocky Face, Georgia today during her time in Washington with the Lead America Youth Leadership Conference.” – Tom Graves

“Glad to meet with Tony Volk, Ed Gustafson, and Burt Hewitt of the National Turkey Federation during their time in Washington.” – Tom Graves

Obamanomics Outsourced
|
|
This week, the Republican National Committee launched ObamanomicsOutsourced.com chronicling President Obama’s ‘sterling’ record of shipping the American recovery overseas. President Obama is on the campaign trail touting his work to create American jobs but his record says otherwise: taxpayer dollars to create jobs around the world.

Please click above to visit Obamanomics Outsourced!
“President Obama has promised over and over that he would focus on creating ‘jobs that pay well and can’t be outsourced’ but his record speaks otherwise,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “Through his ‘stimulus’ program billions of dollars from hard-working taxpayers were sent overseas.
“The Outsourcer-In-Chief is going around the country touting his ‘jobs record,’ but the only positive record he has is creating jobs in faraway places like Finland and South Korea. He has resorted to vicious distortions of Governor Romney’s private sector business experience because he’s trying to distract from his own record of sending American dollars to fund diesel engines in Thailand and build wind turbines in Italy.”

In Memoriam
|
|
Over the past two weeks, the Georgia Republican Party mourned the passing of two dear friends and fellow Republicans, former State Senator Ed Boshears and Mrs. Lydia Kemp Beavers.
Edward Eugene Boshears, a former three-term Republican State Senator from St. Simons Island, passed away last week at the age of 66. A native of Augusta, GA, he is survived by his brother, four step-children and numerous step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Judy Bazemore Boshears. The family requests that those wishing may make memorial Contributions to the Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga. 31525.
Also last week, Mrs. Lydia Kemp Beavers, Mother-in-Law of Georgia’s Commissioner of Agriculture Gary Black, passed away. A proud member of the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church for 58 years, Lydia will be remembered for her faith, her love of family and friends, and her beautiful flowers. Those who wish may make donations to the Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 4635 Dallas Hwy. Powder Springs, GA. 30127.
Please join us in remembering these two wonderful individuals, as they will be missed dearly by all. May they rest in peace.
The Georgia Republican Party also asks that you pray for Floyd County Republican Party Chairman Dan Hanks, who was recently involved in a car accident and is recovering at Floyd Medical Center in Rome. Get well soon, Dan!

Help Lead the Charge Today!
|
|
The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
