Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – February 15, 2012

Chairman Sue Everhart

Dear Friends,

This week, Barack Obama unveiled his Fiscal Year 2013 budget proposal, and the plan was underwhelming – to say the very least. It is no secret that our nation’s economy has been severely hindered under President Obama’s guidance, but we are just beginning to see the true long-term effects of the Democrats’ binge spending.

Under President Obama’s plan, federal spending is expected to increase by more than 50 percent over the next ten years, until our government is spending nearly $6 trillion in the year 2022. Under his Administration’s own budget projections, our national debt will reach $25.9 trillion over the next ten years – an increase of $10.6 trillion due to the President’s spending proposals.

By the end of this year, the Obama Administration is on track to have added $5.7 trillion to our debt during just one term in the White House, more than any other President in American history.

Letter from Congressman Phil Gingrey

State of Georgia

Greetings,

As President Obama unveils his budget for Fiscal Year 2013, we again ask what kind of government America should have. Do we want to be a tax and spend nation that recklessly places our debt on the backs of working Americans? Or should we strive for a leaner, more efficient government that lives within its means? As a long-time proponent of a Balanced Budget Amendment, you probably know where I stand. Cutting the size of government will send a message to the world markets that we are serious about tackling our spending problems, and stabilizing our economy.

As a medical provider for over twenty-five years, it is my hope that a concrete plan to save Medicare is also included in the President’s proposal. As I discussed in my latest blog post, Medicare is a critical safety net for millions of our nation’s senior citizens, and we must take swift action to ensure that the program is saved before the Medicare trust fund goes broke in 2016. I look forward to working with both the President and my colleagues in the House and Senate to build a stronger, solvent Medicare program that will be available for our children and grandchildren.

GAGOP Chairman Everhart Statement on President Obama’s FY 2013 Budget Proposal

ATLANTA –In response to President Barack Obama’s Fiscal Year 2013 budget proposal, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Sue P. Everhart released the following statement:

“For over three years, Georgians have watched as Barack Obama has driven our nation’s fiscal house into utter disarray. Instead of keeping his promise to cut our budget deficit in half by the end of his first term, President Obama will have now recorded four consecutive years of budget deficits in excess of $1 trillion – a shameful record. With a national debt that now surpasses the size of our country’s entire GDP, now is the time to take a step back from fiscal insanity, not continue the reckless policies that have put the very financial foundation of our country in peril.

“Unfortunately, Barack Obama’s FY 2013 budget proposal is more of the same: progressive tax increases, runaway entitlement spending and increased debt-inducing ‘stimulus’ expenditures. After three years of his damaging fiscal policies and endless broken promises, Georgians are acutely aware of the damage that the President has inflicted on our state and our nation. In November, Georgia’s voters are prepared to ensure that this will be Barack Obama’s final budget. It is clear that with President Obama, the buck stops nowhere.”

Georgia Republicans in Action!

Take a look at what Republicans across Georgia have been up to this week:

Paulding GOP Announces Young Conservative Scholar Award

The Paulding County GOP is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Young Conservative Scholar Award. The Young Conservative Scholar Award is a $500 scholarship funded through generous donations from party members and local elected officials. Through the Young Conservative Scholar Award, the Paulding County GOP is working to recognize and support those students who show promise of becoming future leaders in the conservative movement.

Scholarship applicants compete for the award through an essay contest. This year, applicants are being asked to write a 350 to 500 word essay in response to this question: The first ten amendments to the United States Constitution are collectively referred to as the Bill of Rights. Of these ten rights, which do you believe offers the most important protection of individual liberty and personal freedom?

Paulding County GOP Chairman Joseph Gullett is excited about the showing of support both within the party and in the community as a whole. “The Young Conservative Scholar Award is an opportunity for Republicans in our community to have a direct, positive impact on the education of our county’s bright young thinkers,” says Chairman Gullett. “As Republicans, we believe that success comes from hard work, and we encourage others to strive for their personal best. I believe this scholarship reflects these principles.”

The application for the Young Conservative Scholar Award is available through the Paulding County GOP’s website (www.pauldingrepublicans.org). Applications will be accepted through April 16th. The recipient will be honored at a reception attended by scholarship donors as well as county leaders and elected officials.

Help Lead the Charge Today!

The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. With President Obama committed to raising $1 billion for his reelection, we have a lot of work to do. A $1-billion campaign means about $1.858 million for every electoral vote, which works out to about $30 million here in Georgia alone.

There’s too much at stake to leave the election of 2012 to chance. And that means there’s too much at stake to wait until 2012 to get started. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
