Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – August 8, 2012

Chairman Sue Everhart

Dear Friends,

This week, it was announced by Chairman Reince Priebus that Georgia’s very own Attorney General Sam Olens will be a Headline Speaker at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa Bay, Florida! A true leader for our state since his election in 2010, Attorney General Olens continues to be recognized for his efforts to lead the fight against ObamaCare and scale back Barack Obama’s overreaching policies that have unnecessarily intruded on state’s rights.

When asked about his role at the National Convention, Attorney General Olens remarked, “We can do better as a country. We must empower Americans to make their own choices across the board. The jobs-killing, unconstitutional policies coming out of Washington, D.C. must be undone. Elections do have consequences and we will start to put our country back on track at the Republican National Convention when we nominate Mitt Romney.”

As one of the five largest Delegations at the Republican National Convention, the Georgia Republican Party is in a unique position to make a difference like never before! As our Party’s leaders, including Attorney General Olens – are recognized for their guidance, we are also proud to bring a Delegation of leaders, activists, volunteers and fellow Republican voters to Tampa Bay to show our state’s influence and reach within the Republican Party.

Let’s Cover Georgia: A Sign in Every Yard, a Sign on Every Corner

This election is a battle for the core values of America. Do we want a country of and by Washington…or a nation of and by a free people? For us to continue to live in a free America, we MUST replace Barack Obama.

The GAGOP is the only entity in the state fully committed to electing a Republican President. Help us spread our message to every corner of our state! With a contribution of just…

$5, you can help buy three yard signs.

$25, you can help buy fourteen yard signs.

$100, you can help buy fifty-nine yard signs.

And with a contribution of $1,000, you can help buy enough yard signs so that every Republican in an entire precinct can proudly display their strong Republican support!

Let’s cover Georgia!

Letter from Congressman Tom Price

Please note: This article originally appeared in the Georgia Federation of Republican Women’s VOICES Magazine.

Democrats’ planned tax hike on job creators not the right solution. Without action, tax rates will rise across the board in 2013. Americans understand the warnings of economists that the impending “fiscal cliff” will cripple our already fragile economy. In response, President Obama and congressional Democrats insist that the only way to thwart this disaster is to raise taxes on America’s small businesses and job creators.

It did not have to be this way. Since taking control of the House in January 2011, Republicans have governed responsibly to avert this crisis. In fact, both budgets passed by the U.S. House of Representatives significantly reform our tax code to foster economic growth by lowering rates, eliminating loopholes and finally putting America’s taxpayers ahead of Washington special interests.

Meanwhile, Senate Democrats profess they are acting as good stewards of America’s financial future. Frankly, it’s hard to take this seriously when the Democrat majority has refused to pass any sort of tax reform, much less an annual budget in more than 1,100 days.

Attorney General Sam Olens to Speak at Republican National Convention

This week, it was announced that Georgia’s Attorney General Sam Olens will be a Headline Speaker at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa Bay, Florida! A well-deserved honor for Attorney General Olens, his inclusion as a Headline Speaker will ensure that the State of Georgia plays a prominent role at the Convention!

“We can do better as a country. We must empower Americans to make their own choices across the board. The jobs-killing, unconstitutional policies coming out of Washington, D.C. must be undone. Elections do have consequences and we will start to put our country back on track at the Republican National Convention when we nominate Mitt Romney,” remarked Olens.

Way to go, Attorney General! Make Georgia proud!

Elected Official of the Week: Congressman Austin Scott

Austin Scott is in his first-term as the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s Eighth Congressional District. Prior to his election to Congress he was a small business owner and spent 14 years in the Georgia state House, beginning with his first election at age 26.

In a bow to his experience, his now 89, freshman peers chose him as their class president.

Before being elected to Congress, Austin, who graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.B.A. in Risk Management and Insurance, owned and operated an insurance brokerage firm for nearly twenty years. He has his series seven, CLU, CHFC, RHU and REBC and, until his election to Congress, he had been a long-time member of NAIFA.

While in the State House, he served on the Appropriations, Rules and Ways and Means Committee, where he was the chairman of the Public Policy Subcommittee. He is known as a conservative on both economic and social issues and as a fierce defender of limited government.

Austin’s political experience on the state level and background in risk management has given him a unique perspective in Washington. He utilizes that understanding to draft and promote legislation which works to open access to capital for American businesses, eliminate burdensome regulations on entrepreneurs and investors and provide economic opportunities for the next generation.

In the 112th Congress, Scott serves on the Agriculture and Armed Services committees. Austin, his son Wells and wife Vivien reside in Tifton, GA.

Did Obama Turn a Blind Eye to Solyndra Warnings?

The Republican National Committee releases the infographic “Did Obama Turn a Blind Eye to Solyndra Warnings?” drawing attention to all the people around President Obama who knew about Solyndra’s poor financial position. If all these people knew about Solyndra, why didn’t the President of the United States act? Why wasn’t more done to save taxpayer dollars once it was evident Solyndra could not be saved?

“President Obama and his team have a lot to answer for as to why half a billion taxpayer dollars were squandered on a company connected to Obama campaign bundlers that had a poor financial outlook,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

Help Lead the Charge Today!

The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
