Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – August 1, 2012

Chairman Sue Everhart

Dear Friends,

On Tuesday, nearly one-million Republican voters from every corner of our state took to the polls to vote in Georgia’s Republican primary elections. The highly-impressive turnout across the state showed that not only are Georgia Republicans tuned in to the issues of the day, but we are fired up to keep Georgia Red and ready to take our country back!

I would like to send my most sincere gratitude to each of the Republican candidates that appeared on ballots all over Georgia on Tuesday. Your willingness to serve our Party and our great state should not go unnoticed; because of your commitment and sacrifice, our state is undoubtedly a better place. Thank you all for answering the call – I am proud to have you on our team!

I also am proud to congratulate all of the candidates who were victorious in their primary campaigns. After many long months of hard work and tireless campaigning, you not only persevered – you succeeded. As it is said, “The tougher the battle, the sweeter the victory,” and I believe that many of you would attest to that very notion today. You should all be proud of what you have accomplished!

Let’s Cover Georgia: A Sign in Every Yard, a Sign on Every Corner

This election is a battle for the core values of America. Do we want a country of and by Washington…or a nation of and by a free people? For us to continue to live in a free America, we MUST replace Barack Obama.

The GAGOP is the only entity in the state fully committed to electing a Republican President. Help us spread our message to every corner of our state! With a contribution of just…

$5, you can help buy three yard signs.

$25, you can help buy fourteen yard signs.

$100, you can help buy fifty-nine yard signs.

And with a contribution of $1,000, you can help buy enough yard signs so that every Republican in an entire precinct can proudly display their strong Republican support!

Let’s cover Georgia!

Letter from Senator Saxby Chambliss

Dear Friends,

This week, I voted against the Democrats’ plan that would raise taxes on nearly a million business owners and threaten tens of thousands of family farms and ranches with a death tax of 55 percent at the end of the year. Tax policy plays a critical role for small businesses to create jobs and prosper. While millions of Americans are struggling to find work and our GDP growth at 1.5 percent, we shouldn’t be considering massive tax increases that will make America less competitive. Although the bill passed, it is a revenue bill that did not originate in the House, and so has no chance of becoming law.

On Tuesday, Chairman Diane Feinstein (D-CA) and I announced that the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence approved by a vote of 14-1 the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013. This bill has a number of important provisions that give the intelligence community the tools and resources necessary to help keep our country safe. In particular, the leaks title, which was negotiated with the House, is a strong step toward stemming the torrent of leaks. I continue to urge the administration to reject the status quo and work with Congress to pass these and any other important changes into law.

2012 Georgia Republican Primary Elections

On Tuesday, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Sue P. Everhart released the following statement regarding Georgia’s Republican primary elections:

“I would like to congratulate our Party’s candidates on their strong showings in today’s Republican primary elections across the state. As a result of these elections, the Georgia Republican Party will enter November’s general election with one of the strongest slates of candidates from the top of the ticket to the very bottom that our Party has ever seen.

“Today, it is clear that the Georgia Republican Party is confidently positioned to protect and grow our majorities in Georgia’s Congressional Delegation, the State Senate and House of Representatives and all across the many counties, districts and municipalities throughout our state. I look forward to working with all of the Republican nominees, and I am confident in the unparalleled strength of a united Republican front as we march onward toward victory in November.”

Elected Official of the Week: Congressman Rob Woodall

Rob Woodall serves in the U.S. House of Representatives on behalf of the Seventh Congressional District of Georgia. This is Rob’s first term in office and he serves on the House Committee on Rules and the House Budget Committee.

Born and raised in Georgia, Rob Woodall’s story is one of tireless public service. Rob graduated from Marist School in 1988, attended Furman University for his undergraduate degree and received his law degree from the University of Georgia. While working on energy and health care policy at a Washington, D.C. law firm during the summer of 1994, Rob became frustrated with the infamous Clinton Tax Bill and Hillary Health Care Plan and their potential impact on his family, friends, and neighbors in Georgia. Consumed with a need to do more to defeat these policies, Rob was compelled to begin his public service in Washington as a member of Congressman John Linder’s staff.

While working for Congressman Linder, Rob played an integral role in drafting, introducing and advocating for H.R. 25, The FairTax; a bill that would overhaul the entire United States tax code, starting with abolishing all income taxes and replacing them with one, revenue-neutral consumption tax on all goods and services. What started as a small bipartisan bill has become the most highly co-sponsored and revolutionary tax reform bill in Congress thanks in large part to a nation-wide grassroots. On January 3, 2011 – the first day of the 112th Congress, and his very first day in office – Rob re-introduced H.R. 25 with a record number of original co-sponsors.

Rob’s biggest sense of accomplishment is helping Seventh District families one at a time through casework and creating a Congressional office that functions for the people. Rob’s political philosophy is guided by the principles of freedom, and he is committed to working on behalf of the Seventh District to restore a positive and fiscally responsible path for America.

Whose Side Are You On?

The Republican National Committee releases a graphic “Whose Side Are You On?” which draws a sharp contrast between President Obama’s government-centered approach to the economy and Governor Romney’s emphasis on free enterprise.

“While President Obama believes that government is the driver of our economy, Governor Romney understands that it is the hard working American entrepreneur and our free enterprise system that is responsible for America’s success,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

“President Obama thinks that small businesses succeed because of the government but that couldn’t be farther from reality. Governor Romney understands the American entrepreneur because he has started his own successful business, met a pay roll, and helped countless other entrepreneurs grow their own business and thrive.”

In Memoriam

This week, the Georgia Republican family lost a dear friend, as Julianne Thompson, Georgia’s Republican Tea Party Liaison, lost her sister, Deborah Hyden.

Deborah was a devout Christian, and believed her law practice served as her ministry. During her life of teaching school and practicing law, many children and adults came to know the love of Jesus Christ through the life of Deborah Hyden.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Raymond Hyden. Her mother, Dorothy Hyden of Duluth, survives her. She is also survived by her sister, Julianne Thompson, and brother-in-law, Jason Thompson, niece, Victoria Thompson, and nephew, Hayden Thompson, of Suwanee, her brother, Robert, and sister-in-law, Teresa, of Marietta, nephew, Greg Hyden, of Boca Raton, Florida, and nephew Marc Hyden, of Panama City Beach, Florida.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 2nd from 5-8 PM at Wages and Sons Funeral Home at 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy. Lawrenceville, Georgia. The funeral service will be Friday, August 3rd at 5 PM at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel at 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy. Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Help Lead the Charge Today!

The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
