Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – April 18, 2012
Dear Friends,
I would like to begin by offering my most sincere congratulations to each of the 42 Delegates and 42 Alternates elected to serve in Georgia’s Delegation at the 2012 Republican National Convention. It is a tremendous honor to have the opportunity to represent our state and our Party at the National Convention, and I will be proud to stand alongside each of you in August!
Across the state, turnout was extremely encouraging at Saturday’s District Conventions. I offered a challenge to each of you – reminding you that when we don’t show up, we lose – and you answered vociferously. Thousands of Georgia Republicans dedicated a Saturday to our Party, and as a result, we have a powerful, united front heading into our State Convention, National Convention and November’s general elections.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Tax Day Statement
WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following Tax Day statement:
“President Obama and his fellow Democrats have been terrible stewards of Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars, and Tax Day serves as a painful reminder of their fiscal recklessness,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
“After promising to cut the deficit in half by the end of his term, President Obama ran trillion dollar deficits and racked up more debt than any president in history. Even as families are making tough decisions and tightening their belts, President Obama sees no need to make government live within its means. Instead, he demands higher taxes and more borrowed money to squander on failed companies like Solyndra and outrageous government excess like the General Services Administration party in Las Vegas.
“President Obama has already raised taxes under ObamaCare, and in a second term, he would raise them again to pay for even more of his out-of-control spending. His tax hike fever is so great that this week he proposed the gimmicky Buffett Tax which would barely put a dent in the deficit reduction and not help a single American get a job.

GAGOP Chairman Everhart Statement on the Buffett Tax
ATLANTA – This week, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Sue P. Everhart released the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate vote on President Obama’s proposed Buffett Tax:
“This week, President Obama and his Democratic colleagues continued to favor political gamesmanship over responsible governance. Instead of working with the American people to improve our economic condition or help put our citizens back to work, the president has elected to advance his latest politically-motivated partisan budget gimmick – the Buffett Tax – which is nothing more than a divisive tax increase aimed at America’s job creators.

Congressman Austin Scott Honors Congressional Art Competition Winners
Warner Robins, GA – U.S. Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) announced the 8th District winners for the 2012 Congressional Art Competition at an awards reception at Wesleyan College. The grand prize winner will be eligible for scholarships and receives airfare to Washington D.C. where his piece will hang in the United States Capitol for one year. The 2nd and 3rd place award recipients will have the opportunity to display their artworks in Rep. Scott’s Warner Robins and Tifton offices. The winners, and their winning works, are noted below. Rep. Scott offered the following comments on this year’s Congressional Art Competition:
“When you first look at this year’s winning pieces, it is very evident that our winners are exceptionally talented artists. However, it was also great to see that each of our winners have a strong support system of parents, teachers and administrators who help them to nurture their talents. This competition is a great reminder that our country is full of very talented leaders of tomorrow. As I pass by their works, either in our district offices or in the United States Capitol, I will be reminded that the work we’re doing today is to ensure a brighter future for them.”
Grand Prize Winner: “Self-Portrait in Pencil” by Joseph Lofton from Central High School

Help Lead the Charge Today!
The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
