Message from Chairman Sue P. Everhart – April 11, 2012

Chairman Sue Everhart

Dear Friends,

I have received several versions of an email regarding the qualifications of President Obama to be on the Georgia ballot and demanding that the Georgia Republican Party file lawsuits to get Mr. Obama off the ballot in November. I have now received several copies of another email demanding that I either file those lawsuits or step down as the Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party.

Republicans believe in the rule of law and in following the law. The challengers to Mr. Obama’s appearance on the Georgia ballot appear to share that respect for the law and have been taking their case through the Georgia legal process. As most of you know, there were several challenges filed and a day-long trial held earlier this year and then briefs were filed. The judge who heard the case ruled in Mr. Obama’s favor and then sent that recommendation on to Secretary Kemp, who reviewed it and affirmed it. As I understand, the challengers are continuing their case with an appeal and ultimately there will be a final decision.

There is no other way to remove Mr. Obama from the ballot than through the challenge that was filed and is on appeal. There is not some other way for the Georgia Republican Party – or anybody else – to get Mr. Obama off the ballot. But there is a way to make him irrelevant: get out and work for the Republican nominee and all Republicans running in 2012.

Letter from Senator Saxby Chambliss

Congressman Phil Gingrey

Georgians deserve simpler, fairer U.S. Tax Code

Congress has adjusted and changed the federal tax code many times over the years. Yet every April 15, Americans are reminded that the current code continues to be unfair and excessively complex. According to the Tax Foundation, taxpayers will pay more in taxes in 2012 than they will spend on food, clothing, and housing combined.

We should end the IRS as we know it and replace the present tax system with one that is simple, fair, consistent and honest.

When I travel around Georgia, one of the key issues folks talk about is the need for a fair tax system. Every year, I introduce legislation in the U.S. Senate called the FairTax. It would create a simpler tax code that allows every American the freedom to determine his or her own priorities and opportunities. I am proud to lead the Senate’s effort on this measure.

Letter from GAGOP Veterans Outreach Chairman COL Larry Mrozinski

Congressman Phil Gingrey

Friends,

Thank you to all the veteran’s whom have served America proudly. Some Georgian’s bear the limitations of physical mobility and deserve our every consideration to ensure their pursuit of happiness and life’s simple amenities not over looked or diminished. For those of you caring for our American hero’s and Georgian residence, I salute you and ask God’s blessings on you. When a service member becomes disabled, we all share in the sacrifice to our nation as we dedicate ourselves to serving others. Your dedication is honored and held in the highest esteem by all Americans.

As a result of America’s unending acknowledgement and attempt to ensure our veteran’s in need have the necessary tools to continue their lives with dignity they deserve, the United States Department of Veteran Affairs, Under the Home Improvements and Structural Alterations (HISA) program, allows home bound Veterans with service-connected disabilities or Veterans with non-service-connected disabilities, if qualified, to receive assistance for any home improvement necessary for the continuation of treatment or for disability access to the home and essential lavatory and sanitary facilities. A HISA grant is available to Veterans who have received a medical determination indicating that improvements and structural alterations are necessary or appropriate for the effective and economical treatment of their disability.

Congressman Jack Kingston: March Jobs Report Fails to Meet Expectations

Washington – The U.S. Department of Labor’s jobs report for the month of March failed to meet expectations with employers adding 120,000 jobs, half as many as in February and far short of the 205,000 private economists had anticipated.

While the unemployment rate shrank slightly, to 8.2 percent, the drop occurred because of a shrinking labor force. Taking into consideration those who sought full-time employment but were forced to take part-time, that figure increases to 14.9 percent. That number grows to a staggering 18 percent when the 4.6 million Americans who have given up looking for work all together are figured in.

“We don’t need another jobs report to tell us this economy is failing the American people,” said Congressman Jack Kingston (R-GA). “It’s a real kick to the stomach, though, when the unemployment rate drops only because so many have given up even trying to find work. Meanwhile, working Americans are kicked in the stomach every day when they fill up at the gas pump, having already seen gas prices go up $1.83 under President Obama’s watch with no end in sight.”

Congressman Tom Graves to Honor 9th District WWII Hero

Please review the following advisory from Georgia’s Congressman Tom Graves:

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-09) is pleased to announce he will be honoring Mr. Johnson W. Brown of Cumming, Georgia for his military service to the United States. Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1943-1945, where he saw combat on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion of France in WWII. He will be receiving eight medals for his service, including the Navy Commendation Medal, the World War II Victor Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze star.

Mr. Brown was a Motor Machinists’ Mate First Class on June 6, 1944, when his ship landed on Omaha Beach. After disembarking its troops under extreme difficulties and having suffered damage from enemy gunfire, the ship was unable to retract from the beach. Due to the ship’s condition and the onslaught of enemy fire, all members of the craft, except three officers and ten men, were ordered to abandon ship. Mr. Brown and other men remained onboard and helped repair the ship to avoid its total loss. The next day, the ship was able to be retracted from the beach to continue the assault mission.

Help Lead the Charge Today!

The Georgia Republican Party is fully committed to electing a Republican President in 2012. However, Victory won’t be achieved simply because we won the last elections. Victory can only be achieved by working hard each and every day to win the next elections. President Obama and the Democrats are targeting Georgia and could spend as much as $30 million to win our state. There’s too much at stake to leave this election to chance. Please consider contributing $15, $25, $50 or any amount to help Georgia do its part to send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
