GAGOP Chairman Everhart Statement on the July Unemployment Report

ATLANTA – Today, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Sue P. Everhart released the following statement regarding the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ July 2012 Employment Situation Summary, which saw the national unemployment rate climb to 8.3%:

“Today’s unemployment numbers are yet another stinging reminder of Barack Obama’s failure to lead America’s economy toward recovery. After 42 consecutive months of national unemployment above 8%, it is clear that not only was President Obama’s economic stimulus package an abject failure, but his tax-and-spend policies have left America with more debt, less jobs and an increasingly dim economic outlook.

“Last week, Barack Obama proudly claimed that his jobs plan worked, but the stark truth is that the only person put to work by the president’s employment plan was his speechwriter. Our country needs leadership in the White House, not a politician willing to pass the buck and shift the burden onto the backs of future generations. Governor Mitt Romney has a plan to return our economy to a path of prosperity, and I look forward to working with him to put Americans back to work.”
