GAGOP Chairman Everhart Statement on the Buffett Tax
ATLANTA – Today, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Sue P. Everhart released the following statement regarding the impending U.S. Senate vote on President Obama’s proposed Buffett Tax:
“Today, President Obama and his Democratic colleagues will continue to favor political gamesmanship over responsible governance. Instead of working with the American people to improve our economic condition or help put our citizens back to work, the president has elected to advance his latest politically-motivated partisan budget gimmick – the Buffett Tax – which is nothing more than a divisive tax increase aimed at America’s job creators.
“After nearly four years of failed big government economic policies, the Obama Administration has shown time and time again a very basic lack of fiscal sanity. The simple fact of the matter is that the Buffett Tax will not help a single Georgia family find a job, and I implore the U.S. Senate to soundly reject President Obama’s Buffett gimmick. Our families deserve better; they deserve real leadership and a president who is focused on helping Americans emerge from our struggling economy.
“In November, we will defeat Barack Obama – not for what he has done, however, but for what he has failed to do. With unemployment stalled above 8%, a national debt rapidly ascending towards $16T and no end in sight for the growing size and scope of our federal government, Americans simply cannot afford four more years of Barack Obama’s non-existent leadership.”
