GAGOP Chairman Everhart Statement on the August Unemployment Report
ATLANTA – This morning, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Sue P. Everhart released the following statement regarding the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ August Employment Situation Summary, which saw 368,000 American workers leave the workforce altogether:
“This morning, the 23 million Americans struggling for work awoke to the news that they already knew all too well: Barack Obama continues to fail our nation’s economy. With the August unemployment report showing that an additional 368,000 Americans left the workforce – nearly four times higher than the number of jobs created – it is clear that not only has our economic engine stalled under the Obama Administration, but that the president promising to move America ‘Forward’ cannot shift out of reverse.
“Across the nation, the answer to the age-old question is ever more clear: we are simply not better off than we were four years ago. In less than two months, Americans will have the opportunity to choose between four more years of unacceptably high unemployment, runaway spending and crippling debt or a chance to return economic sanity to our country by electing a proven business leader to the White House in Governor Mitt Romney. Our country deserves better, and in November Barack Obama will lose his job so that Americans can get theirs back!”
