GAGOP Chairman Everhart Statement on DNC Chair Wasserman Schultz’s Economic Delusion

ATLANTA – Today, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Sue P. Everhart released the following statement in response to Democratic National Committee Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s recent assertion that the national unemployment rate has not increased under President Obama, when in reality it is nearly an entire percentage point higher (Currently 8.6%) than it was when Barack Obama took office in January, 2009:

“Yesterday’s comments by Chairman Wasserman Schultz show yet-again just how out-of-touch the Democratic Party is with the American people. With over 13 million Americans out of work and struggling to make ends meet this holiday season, I find it to be both misleading and offensive for Mrs. Wasserman Schultz to claim that President Obama is improving the economic conditions in our country. As with so many of the Democratic Party’s loudspeakers, the truth is that the rhetoric never matches the reality.

“Georgians know first-hand that our nation’s economy continues to struggle in the face of Barack Obama’s failed policies and economic ineptitude. Unfortunately, for the Democrats to continue to push their illogical talking points and blatantly deny the fact that President Obama has severely hindered our economic recovery is the height of irresponsibility, and certainly won’t put Georgians back to work.

“The delusion that continues to fuel the Obama Administration’s rhetorical spin machine has reached an all-time high. I look forward to working with voters in Georgia and across our great nation to replace Barack Obama and his Democratic colleagues with competent and capable leadership in 2012.”
