GAGOP Chairman Everhart Responds to Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address

ATLANTA – Today, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Sue P. Everhart released the following statement on Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address:

“Tonight, the American people were once-again subjected to the Campaigner-in-Chief’s feeble attempt to parlay his reelection talking points into a primetime address. It is clear that the president has given up on governing, and instead used the State of the Union Address as a grandiose campaign prop. It is truly a shame to see that the once-monumental occasion of the State of the Union Address has turned into little more than cheap political theatre under Barack Obama’s tutelage.

“Despite the well-documented economic ineptitude of the president’s first three years in office, Mr. Obama inexplicably doubled down on the same failed policies that have already proven futile. While providing many of his trademark flowery metaphors and grandiose promises, the president once again chose style over substance and left American voters with more questions than answers.

“Fortunately for the America people, most voters will have no problem seeing straight through his thinly-veiled attempt to convince the world that he deserves a second term in the White House. Barack Obama is simply wrong for our nation, and Americans are ready to make him a one-term president.”
