GAGOP Chairman Everhart Calls on Democratic Party to Denounce DNC Adviser’s Comments Demeaning Mothers
ATLANTA – Georgia Republican Party Chairman Sue P. Everhart released the following statement after Democratic National Committee adviser Hilary Rosen claimed that Ann Romney, mother of five, has “never worked a day in her life”:
“As a woman and a mother, I am highly offended by Hilary Rosen’s deplorable comments last night. There are few things in this world more rewarding than raising children, and I believe that mothers deserve the utmost respect for their tireless efforts – both in and out of the household. Being a mother is a full-time job, and any claim to the contrary is simply untrue. Quite frankly, these comments speak volumes to the Democrats’ true feelings about America’s hard-working and independent-minded women.
“The Democratic National Committee owes an apology not just to Ann Romney, but to all women. If Hilary Rosen’s attacks are not immediately denounced, then the Democrats are nothing short of complicit in these attacks on American mothers. Women in our country deserve better than to be pawns on Barack Obama’s political chess board.”
