GABRC Chairman McNeely Responds to Vice President Biden’s Comments in Virginia

ATLANTA – Today, Georgia Black Republican Council Chairman Michael McNeely responded to Vice President Joe Biden’s comments that, if elected, Governor Mitt Romney would “Put y’all back in chains.” Said Chairman McNeely:

“At first glance, I found Vice President Biden’s comments sadly humorous. There are many men and women who fought against racial intolerance in this nation and sacrificed much to ensure that all people are free and have the opportunity to succeed, and to use such an analogy in 2012 is truly disingenuous. There are, however, many chains holding down all Americans today, including President Obama’s crippling taxation and burdensome overregulation, the federal takeover of the American healthcare system and the lack of educational choice that is jeopardizing the future for our youth.

“I invite Vice President Biden to come to the South where the civil rights movement was fought to discuss these points with me and other conservative Americans. President Obama had a ‘Beer Summit’ in Washington, but here in Georgia, I offer a glass of sweet tea to set the tone for a productive dialogue.”
