WHEREAS, the current economic crisis has necessitated a closer look at our state government expenditures; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia expends taxpayer money on 121 state agencies and commissions; and

WHEREAS, no mechanism exists for regularly scheduled periodic review of the function and budgetary requirements of these state agencies and commissions; and

WHEREAS, legislation known as the Georgia Government Accountability Act has been introduced; now therefore be it

RESOLVED that the Georgia Legislature is urged to pass and the Governor is urged to sign the Georgia Government Accountability Act into law.
