Congressional District
Reorganization Finalized
With 2012 quickly approaching, Republicans in Georgia are organizing to ensure that
Barack Obama is a one-term President. The United States Constitution initially
called for a census of the population every ten (10) years. Following the
updated count in 2010, Georgia’s rapid growth during the last decade resulted
in an increase of one Representative in the United States Congress for a total
voting strength of fourteen (14) Congressmen that will be elected in 2012.
To ensure “one man, one vote”, the Georgia General Assembly met in special session
and reapportioned Georgia’s current thirteen (13) Congressional districts into
fourteen (14) new districts. The Georgia House and Georgia Senate approved the
new maps, and Governor Nathan Deal signed the Georgia Congressional
Reapportionment Act of 2011 into law on September 6, 2011. With the new
districts in place, there were fourteen separate meetings to elect the
congressional district teams that will lead us to victory in 2012.
Congratulations to the 14 new
Congressional District leadership teams that were elected during our recent
reorganization meetings!
