Chairman’s Welcome: October 31, 2012
Posted by chris on Oct 31, 2012Dear Friends,
In the nearly two months that have passed since the terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, much has been uncovered about the events of that fateful night and the actions – or lack thereof – of the Obama Administration. What matters now, however, is that four American lives were taken in cold blood, including that of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens. The families of those who gave their lives, as well as the American people, deserve answers.
In the hours that followed after the attacks began, it has been revealed that CIA operatives were denied in their requests for military back-up at least three times, told instead to “stand down” while Americans were fighting for their lives. Despite of these orders, former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods and at least two others put country before self and rushed to the aide of their colleagues. Heartbreakingly, Tyrone lost his life fighting to protect fellow Americans. In my eyes, he is a true American hero.
What happened to the U.S. diplomatic mission in Libya is a stark reminder that the world in which we live is as dangerous as ever. Though the battle may not be fought on American soil, our government has the unmitigated responsibility to protect the American people, both at home and abroad. When lives were put at risk on that evening in Benghazi, our government should have moved mountains to ensure that our citizens came out alive. An order to “stand down” is not only despicable, but it an affront to every brave man and woman fighting each and every day for our freedom.
The Obama Administration has gone out of their way to deflect questions surrounding the terrorist attacks in Benghazi, and true to form, the American mainstream media has refused to hold their feet to the fire. Instead of accountability, this Administration has actively avoided taking responsibility. The American people deserve much, much better.
Every mother and father in America should take a moment to put themselves in the shoes of the parents of those who lost their lives in Benghazi. With your child fighting to protect the freedoms that our country far-too-often takes for granted, this Administration, while watching the events unfold in real-time, not only does not take every step to ensure the safety of your loved one, but also orders that those close by “stand down” and not act to save American lives.
Where was Barack Obama as the dust settled on the day after the Benghazi attacks? Raising campaign funds in Las Vegas.
The American people deserve answers from the Obama Administration, and we require leadership from our Commander-in-Chief. Unfortunately, we will continue to receive neither from Barack Obama.
Sue
