Chairman’s Welcome: November 16, 2011

Dear Friends,

Last night, I had the distinct honor and privilege to travel to Chickamauga, Georgia to visit with my friends and colleagues in the Walker County Republican Party. This was no normal stop in the north Georgia mountains, however, as I also had the opportunity to personally welcome and congratulate the two newest members of the Georgia Republican Party – previously-Democratic Sheriff Steve Wilson and Tax Commissioner Carolyn Walker.

Unfortunately, I cannot be in two places at once, and at the very same time, the Franklin County Republican Party was welcoming two new Republican Elected Officials of their own – School Board Chairman Joe Greene and Tax Commissioner Bobby Martin. Also former Democrats, Mr. Greene and Mr. Martin were welcomed to the GAGOP Team with open arms and a fresh start.

These moves to the Republican Party in Georgia not only signal the proliferation of common sense, conservative values in Georgia, but also echo a sentiment that we have heard time and time again: it is not that these individuals left the Democratic Party, but rather the Democratic Party left them. Since 2006, we have witnessed a radical shift to the far left in the Democratic Party; in fact, did you know that at the time of his election in 2008, Barack Obama was ranked as the most liberal member of the United States Senate? While the Georgia Republican Party has gone to great lengths to foster and grow our conservative majority throughout the state, the Democratic Party in Georgia and across the United States has adopted a hard-line ‘with us or against us’ mentality.

I would like to personally welcome Sheriff Wilson, Chairman Greene, Commissioner Walker and Commissioner Martin to the Georgia Republican Party. I believe that I speak on behalf of our entire statewide team when I tell you that we are truly thrilled to have principled, experienced and proven leaders like each of you on our side.

As we move forward to the Elections of 2012 and beyond, the Georgia Republican Party will continue to welcome any and all elected officials who are no longer able to find a home in the ultra-liberal Democratic Party. From County Commissioners to Sheriffs to Aldermen and each office holder in between, we invite you all to find out more about the Republican Party in Georgia.
