Chairman’s Welcome: July 18, 2012

Dear Friends,

I would like to begin by honoring the life and service of the great Senator Paul Coverdell, who passed away on this date in 2000. A faithful servant to the State of Georgia, Paul was instrumental in the growth of the Republican Party, and served diligently in both the Georgia State Senate and the United States Senate.

Georgia’s own Eric Tannenblatt, Governor Mitt Romney’s National Finance Co-Chairman and former employee of Senator Coverdell, wrote:  ”Senator Coverdell left an indelible mark on the thousands of people he encountered throughout his life.   Whether as a business and community leader, State Senator, Peace Corps Director, US Senator, he was a friend, mentor, role model and leader to many.  He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word and someone always willing to listen to others and bring people together.   Paul Coverdell was committed to the preservation of liberty and freedom and, in his own quiet way, made people realize that everyone can and does make a difference.  His legacy will continue to live on.”

From 1985 until 1987, Paul served as the Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party, and I am honored to carry on his legacy each and every day. Not a single day goes by that I do not think of Paul’s contributions to our Party, and I know that we would not be where our Party is today without his leadership, vision and will to succeed. You are missed, my friend.

As many of you know, the Georgia Republican Party launched ‘A Sign in Every Yard, a Sign on Every Corner’ last week to begin our efforts to show Republican support and help spread our message to every corner of Georgia. I am pleased to report that the results have been highly encouraging, but we still have much work to be done to reach our goal of placing a sign on every corner and in every yard throughout the Peach State.

If you have not already, please consider joining our efforts today by visiting: www.gagop.org/a-sign-in-every-yard-a-sign-on-every-corner-of-georgia/.

Early Voting for Georgia’s July 31st Primary Elections is in full swing, and we are now less than two weeks away from Election Day! I strongly encourage each of you to beat the lines and cast your vote early! To find out where you can cast your ballot, please visit the Secretary of State’s ‘My Voter Page’ by clicking here.

Don’t Forget: Saturday Voting will be available this Saturday, July 21st!

Finally, I wanted to remind you that the Annual Grand Ol’ Fish Fry is right around the corner, and will be held on Saturday, August 4th. A great event to meet fellow Republicans from across the state, the Fish Fry is among my very favorite grassroots gatherings, and I am looking forward to returning to Perry in just a few short weeks! This year’s Fish Fry will be sponsored by the 8th Republican Congressional District, and more details can be found at www.8thdistrictgop.com/fish-fry-registration.html.

Thank you for all that you do – With just 111 days to go until November 6th, the Georgia Republican Party is proud to have you on our team as we march towards victory!

All my best,

Sue
