8th District Update from Chairman Vivian Childs
Posted by chris on Sep 18, 2012Georgia’s 8th congressional district, host of the Grand Ol’ Fish Fry, is proud to be represented by Congressman Austin Scott and twenty-four awesome counties reaching north from Monroe County to the Florida border.
As we ready for the upcoming elections, excitement is buzzing in the district. One of our southernmost counties, Lowndes, has opened its headquarters and is inviting everyone to visit for signs and bumper stickers.
In Bibb County, Operation Elect Republicans is in full swing. Their office is stocked with Romney yard signs, bumper stickers, and buttons. They also have plenty of information about their local candidates as well. Plans are in the works on getting the vote out to ensure Republican victories in November.
In Houston County, the Middle Georgia Republican Women spearheaded a Patriot Day project. The project is a nationwide movement called “I Will” to remember those who died on 9/11 and to honor those who serve in our communities. It was a huge success and we believe that every fire station and police dept. in Warner Robins, Ft. Valley and Perry was recognized. As Donna Sant stated, “it was great to give back to so many that give to our community every single day.”
We have had a very productive year by reaching out to ALL republicans. Unity is the key, if there is to be an administration change. Our outreach program is working and the Fish Fry was great. A huge thank you to Sue Everhart, Aaron Hufstetler, Ken and Elaine Pritchard, Pam Wingate, and the many elected officials, volunteers, and guests who attended. Gator Matthews also came through for us once again this year.
Lastly, my first Republican National Convention was all that and much, much more. Sue Everhart and the GAGOP provided many events and transportation. Thank you to the Romney Campaign for your leadership and guidance. Being a delegate surrogate was a highlight of my political journey, as well as delivering the first motion from the convention floor.. Our delegation included myself, Jason Downey, Roy Campbell, Lott Dill, Valerie Martin, and Barbara Schmader.
I am so proud to be the 8th District Chairman and even more proud to be an American.
Vivian L. Childs
